And if you have young kids and spent most of the night assembling a doll house with an 87 page instruction booklet, the next morning you probably feel worse than you ever did after a wild night in college.

While the aforementioned dollhouse certainly did serve as a distraction for like 9.3 minutes, , kids need to eat.
But, you, my fellow tired parent warrior who’s also mainlining your third cup of hot chocolate coffee or maybe having a Christmas Morning Mimosa, do not have to break a sweat making homemade ANYTHING for a special Christmas morning breakfast.
So, skip the hard stuff and do easy things that get big results.
Bonus points: you can get your kids to do the heavy lifting and decorate the breakfast and still feel like parent of the year.
Enter this easy cinnamon roll wreath.
It’s super easy thanks to slice and bake cinnamon rolls and a good old can of ready made frosting.

It’s like Buddy the Elf showed up and made breakfast with the 4 main food groups.
Ingredients and Kitchen Supplies
- Cinnamon rolls– The kind in the can you find in the refrigerated section. This honestly is one of my favorite Pillsbury cinnamon rolls recipes.
- Icing– You can get rid of the icing that comes with the cinnamon rolls. Pick up a can of vanilla or cream cheese frosting. Sometimes you can find premade green icing this time of year as well. You could also go semihomemade and make your own homemade vanilla buttercream but even that feels like a lot for Christmas morning.
- Food coloring– Green food coloring
- Decorations– You can get creative here and use what you like. We used holiday M&M’s, holiday sprinkles, red decorating icing, and anything else your little heart desires.
In terms of supplies and tools, you don’t need much, just:
- Cookie sheet
- Foil
- Spatula
How to Make an Easy Cinnamon Roll Wreath
1. Open the cinnamon rolls and arrange them on a baking sheet.
Arrange 8 cinnamon rolls in a hollow circle on a baking sheet you’ve lined with foil and sprayed with nonstick spray.
2. Bake the cinnamon rolls.
Bake the cinnamon rolls according the directions on the package.
Keep in mind, they may need a touch more time because the cinnamon rolls will be touching each other.
3. Let them cool.
When the rolls are golden brown and cooked through, remove them from the oven.
Either let them cool to room temperature right on the tray or transfer them to a baking rack.
Decorate and enjoy!
How to Decorate
1. Make the icing green.
Remove the top of the icing can and the protective foil seal.
Microwave it for 30 seconds so it melts and takes on a more liquidy consistency.
Stir in a few drops of green food coloring until it makes a green color you like for a wreath.
2. Pour the icing over the cinnamon rolls.
Evenly pour the green icing over the rolls so the circle of cinnamon rolls is now fairly evenly coated in green frosting.
3. Embellish with decorations of your choice.
Go to town or unleash the kids and let them go to town.
We used red decorator icing for a bow, Christmas sprinkles, and holiday M&M’s.
Tips and Tricks
- You can use store brand cinnamon rolls or homemade, but honestly we always use Pillsbury cinnamon rolls for any type of “we’re gonna decorate these buns” recipes.
- Make your life easier by transferring the warm cinnamon roll wreath to a cooling wrack set over a baking tray lined with foil. Pour the icing on it when its still on the wrack. The tray should catch all the
- Get the kids involved. My daughter and sons all love to top baked goods with obscene amounts of candy.
- Use any candy, frostings, sprinkles that you like to decorate this cinnamon bun wreath.
- Remember- it’s ok if the end result is a little messy! This is one of those kid breakfasts that is as much about the process as it is about the result.

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400.

Bake the cinnamon rolls for 13-17 minutes or according the directions on the package.
When the rolls are golden brown and cooked through, remove them from the oven. - Let them cool completely before decorating.
