Nutella hot coffee combines two household favorites: Nutella and coffee.
Coffee really needs no introduction. It is a life-line for this busy, tired mom. I really need it to start my brain going each morning.
Adding Nutella to coffee is the best combination since mocha.
And the best part is, Nutella hot coffee is super easy to make and really only requires some very basic steps to make it delicious.
Ingredients and Kitchen Supplies
You really do not need much for this simple Nutella hot coffee. Here’s what you’ll want to have on hand:
- Brewed coffee: Go ahead and brew your favorite pot of coffee. I can be a complementary flavor or plain grounds. In a pinch, you could use instant coffee, but for the best flavor, brew a fresh pot.
- Half and half: If half and half is not your thing, you can use your preferred milk or cream. You don’t necessarily want to use a creamer since the Nutella will add flavor to the coffee.
- Sugar or sweetener: You can use your favorite sweetener in the amount you like (I like A LOT myself). But if you don’t like a lot of sweetness, you may want to cut down a bit since the Nutella adds a bit of sweetness.
- Nutella: This is the obvious ingredient. There really are no substitutes, though I think some grocery stores may have a “generic” store brand.
- Toppings: These are optional but certainly help make life worth living. I use both whipped cream and chocolate sauce as a topping.
This is not a kitchen gadget-heavy recipe, but I do have a few recommendations:
- Ninja CFP307 DualBrew Pro Specialty Coffee System – We use the same model at home for every day use. It brews very good cups of coffee, can make hot water for tea, and allows you to use k-cups compatible with Keurig, which we use to fill our travel mugs when we go out.
- Glass mugs
How to Make
1. Pour the ingredients into a sauce pan.
Pour brewed coffee, half and half (milk or cream), sweetner, and Nutella into a small sauce pan set over medium low heat.
2. Stir until combined.
Stir until the Nutella melts and all ingredients combine.
3. Cook until hot.
If you had your coffee in the fridge, it may take 5 to 10 minutes. At room temperature, it will take about 5 to heat through. If you just brewed fresh, hot coffee, you just need to stir until combined.
4. Top the drink.
Yes, you can have it plain, but it is obviously better when topped with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. You could also use chocolate shavings if you like.
