Homemade Candy Cane Vodka
Homemade candy cane vodka is an adult peppermint treat. This delicious drink makes the perfect gift with minimal effort. Make some this holiday season for a festive treat!
Each and every year, I kid myself. I tell myself I am going to make lovely handmade gifts for everyone. Each year, I do not and find myself on December 23 scrambling to get my gifting on. Full disclosure: as I write this post, I am keep going back to Amazon thinking of little gifts for my kids. Sorry Amazon delivery person. I’ll leave you some chocolate chip cookies for your last minute deliveries.
Candy Cane Vodka- the Easy Homemade Gift that Keeps on Giving
But, one thing I did this year! I made some homemade gifts like this candy cane vodka. Unlike gifts that require a ton of effort, this homemade candy cane vodka really doesn’t take much work at all. The result is delicious, perfectly pepperminty vodka that you can drink on its own or use to make a fancy mixed drink or even spike some peppermint hot chocolate.
And if you know someone that loves peppermint hot cocoa, you could do a totally homemade gift and give them a fancy homemade hot cocoa mix like this one from My Baking Addiction and some homemade peppermint vodka to spike it with. And maybe even include a couple of diy cinnamon ornaments for decoration.
How thoughtful! Who wouldn’t be happy to get a gift bag full of those goodies?
Making Homemade Candy Cane Vodka
Seriously, this is so easy, it’s almost embarrassing to call it a recipe. To make the vodka, I had some vanilla flavored vodka. I put 5 mini candy canes into each jar and poured 1 1/4 cups of vanilla vodka over the candy canes.
Use more vodka and extra candy canes if you are using a bigger jar. Then I put the lid on and let it sit on my counter overnight, shaking it periodically. The candy canes will dissolve in the vodka and the vodka will turn this really festive pinkish red color.
Then I put a fine mesh strainer over a large measuring cup and poured the jars out over the strainer to filter out any undissolved candy cane pieces. I discarded those pieces and then poured the vodka back into the jars and sealed them.
Boom. Homemade gifts done.
