What I’m Wednesday 71

Welcome to the place where I share what I’m up to each week and a bit of my real life outside of the blog.toddler boy with bubbles

Doing

Taking all the naps. I know you’re supposed to get really energized in the second trimester. Somehow I’ve skipped that and never gotten over the walking zombie phase. I’m exhausted.

Some of that may have to do with just how chilly and gray it’s been here. Brrr.

Ha, but really I think it’s growing a human. Please excuse me while I nap. Again.

With the Kids

Anytime it’s remotely nice out, which has been kind of not the case the last week or so, we play outside. Both kids are so into bubbles and playing on the swings. It amuses them for hours. Can’t wait for it to warm up again so we can spend all day outside!

Watching

I am involved in watching only comfort television right now. It’s been all Golden Girls, New Girl and Schitt’s Creek. Nothing remotely new. Still.

I’ve also had the pleasure of falling asleep during Notting Hill and several other romcoms that I’ve seen approximately five thousand times.

Oh! We did watch all of Falcon and the Winter Soldier- so good! Did you watch? Thoughts? I liked it more than WandaVision (gasp, I know).

And now we are very slowly watching the Mighty Ducks reboot show on Disney Plus, which is also suprisingly good though cheesy. It has tons of that 90s feel good sitcom nostalgia, being centered on a hardworking single mom that learns hockey and forms a new team for her son after he’s cut from the Ducks. Lauren Graham (aka Lorelei Gilmore) plays the mom in the series and is basically her Gilmore Girls character all over again. Emilio Estevez is back as grumpy Gordon Bombay. It’s a bit like watching Luke and Lorelei but at an ice rink instead of at a diner. I’m still into it though lol.

Reading

Possibly because I’ve been so low energy lately, I’ve been reading a lot.

I can’t focus on anything other than light and fun because my brain just can’t handle it.

But over the last few weeks I’ve read:

  • Love Lettering by Kate Claybourn– a fun contemporary romance set in Brooklyn about a calligraphy artist that hides messages in her work. It has a decent twist towards the end but all builds to a satisfying HEA.
  • A Royal Shade of Blue by Aven Ellis– A contemporary royal romance with a super fun meet cute. Not my favorite in terms of character development but not bad. Overall fun.
  • The Suite Life by Melanie Summers– For some reason, it took me awhile to get past the first chapter on this one. This is the third in the Paradise Bay series and possibly my favorite of them. The story follows a cutoff playboy as he struggles to make his way back into his inheritance by following his father’s rules for living a normal, quiet life for 6 month. During this time, he has to hold down a job, find a place to live and, of course, avoid romantic relationships. Trouble is he falls for his hardworking, stressed to the max boss/landlord. Super cute with a really good character arc for the male main.
  • Royally Crushed (book 1) and Royally Wild (book 2) both by Melanie Summers- We’re briefly back in fictional Avonia, where buttoned up Princess Arabella (younger sister of Prince Arthur from the Crown Jewels series) meets adventurer and nature show host Will (whose family is featured in the Paradise Bay books). Will’s career as a nature show host is floundering and Arabella is tired of her reputation as a meek, prim and proper royal. An evilly conniving show runner has a brilliant idea: team the two up for a brand new show where they will survive in the wilderness together and navigate out of the jungle. What could go wrong? This series of all the Melanie Summers books may be my favorite. There’s an excellent twist at the end where the princess turns out not only to not need saving but to be the one to save rugged Will. Book two continues their relationship through some ups and downs, while book three delves into the wedding day drama.

Eating

Oh boy. My eating habits have been all over the place the last few weeks.

We’ve been eating a lot of this roasted broccoli pasta and tons of buffalo cauliflower.

I’ve also been feeling sweet potato fries and if I don’t start each day with a big helping of pineapple there may be tears.

Drinking

I’ve been craving all the light refreshing flavors lately and this easy frozen strawberry lemonade does it for me.

Hating

Putting on socks. How did I do this on my own when I was pregnant with the twins? I don’t even know.

That’s it from me this week! What are you up to? Leave me a comment below and let me know!
