Who doesn’t love s’mores?

In our house, s’mores are the taste of the summer.

We are obsessed. Because, seriously, gooey melted chocolate and sticky, sweet marshmallows is the dessert of champions.

Of course, traditional s’mores are fantastic but they involve a campfire and sitting outside.

Oven baked s’mores and S’moreos also taste great, but sometimes you just want an even easier (if that’s possible) smore dip.

Ingredients and Kitchen Supplies

Nutella and marshmallows
Nutella is the star of this show

This two ingredient Nutella smores dip really only needs two ingredients (though you may want some others for dipping):

  • Nutella – You can use another hazelnut and chocolate spread brand if you like, but Nutella is hard to beat.
  • Marshmallows – You can use large or small. You just need enough to completely cover the nutella in the pan.

You do not need any equipment for this smores dip.

We use a 10 inch cast iron skillet, but you can use any baking dish that is roughly the same size, like this 8×8 baking dish.

We use a cast iron skillet because it will retain its heat for longer, making it easy to dip into the deliciousness for longer period of time.

How to Make Nutella Smores Dip

1. Assemble the dip.

Before you start, preheat your oven to 450 degrees.

As it heats, use a spoon or spatula to scoop and scrape out a large jar of Nutella.

Put a layer of marshmallows on top of the layer of Nutella in the cast iron skillet.

Top and cover the Nutella spread with large or small marshmallows.

2. Bake the Nutella s’mores dip.

Place the dip into the oven.

Bake for about 2 to 5 minutes or until the tops of the marshmallows are golden brown and starting to puff up.

You can get out your dippers while it bakes, unless you just plan to eat it with a spoon – which is an option!

3. Remove and serve.

Carefully remove the s’mores dip from the oven.

Storing

You can, in theory, save this for later, which begs the question: why would you want to?

If you do plan to store it, make sure to cover it tightly in the same baking dish or cast iron skillet and place in the fridge for 2 to 3 days.

To serve again, reheat the oven to 400 and bake for about 5 minutes or until it is warmed through and gooey again.

A word of warning: this is best served fresh, so it is not really worth making ahead of time.

Tips and Tricks

  • You can scale the smores dip up or down as you need to. Making it for a large crowd? Make sure you have enough Nutella to form about an 1 to 1.5 inch layer in the bottom of your skillet or baking dish. Also, make sure you have enough marshmallows to completely cover the Nutella.
  • If your Nutella is cold from the fridge, you will find it easier to spread if it warms up a bit to room temperature. You could also microwave it for a few seconds to warm it a tad.
  • Do not spray your pan or skillet. You do not really need to do this, the dip should come out nicely.
