Peach Wine Slushies
Peach wine slushies are the ultimate frozen cocktail. With frozen peaches, sweet wine, and a touch of peach schnapps, you’ll want to blend up a big batch of these and sip them on your porch or patio all spring and summer long.
Ah, peach wine slushies. (If you are just here for the recipe, feel free to skip ahead to the tips and tricks because I’m about to go all stereotypical food blogger on you and tell you all about how this drink is so nostalgic for me. Consider yourself warned.)
The food blogger rambling about nostalgia
My Nana would have absolutely loved this drink. My little adorable Nana lived with us when I was growing up. She was a tiny powerhouse of a lady, standing at 4’10” and a half. You best not forget that half inch or else you face her fury. We’re all fairly sure that at least 2 inches of her small stature was her hair, which she wore in the same signature bouffant with this perfectly placed center curl swirl above her forehead. A dance instructor once described me as a chihuahua- small and mighty with a big bark. That description fits my Nana because for such a little lady she packed lots of personality into each and every inch of her.
When my sister and I were older and would go to visit my Nana at home, she would immediately offer us a glass of wine. If the weather was nice, she’d pour us a glass and lead us out to the front porch where we’d all sip and chat. If it wasn’t we’d follow her to the living room, where she’d sit like the queen she was in her floral arm chair, while we’d sprawl on the floor or couch.
No matter what the season or where we were sitting, she’d always pour the same kind of wine: peach manischewitz wine. It was her very favorite. Every time I drink it or any other peach drink like my peach wine spritzers, it’s like I’m having a cocktail with Nana.
And back to making the peach wine slushies.
The rambling and waxing poetic is over. Back to business.
Making these peach wine slushies is easy as could be. You just need three things:
- peaches
- sweet white wine
- peach schnapps
That’s it! All you need to do is pop those ingredients in your blender and you’re on your way to frozen cocktail heaven. (Btw, I do recommend getting a decent blender if you plan to do lots of frozen cocktails and smoothies. I was using a cheapy before and it met its untimely demise on my kitchen floor so we replaced it with a Ninja (affiliate link.). It’s not as pricey as the Vitamix but I solidly love it. The consistency it gives to smoothies and frozen drinks is spot on.)
What kind of wine should I use in this cocktail?
You can really use any kind of white wine that you like. I have made these with moscato and also peach wine for an extra peachy taste. You could also use Riesling or even a white Zinfandel, which granted is technically pink. Whatever you like but I do suggest going sweet and not dry and avoiding red wine in these.
Why should I use frozen peaches?
By all means if you want to use fresh peaches, go for it. But fresh peaches don’t give this drink the icy slushy consistency that frozen peaches do. Plus, fresh peaches are only in season for a small window of time and using fresh peaches adds unnecessary work to this easy cocktail.
