Materials for Bumble Bee Mine Valentine’s Day Craft: Paper, Scissors, Glue, Coloring Materials

You only need a couple things to make this adorable bumblebee craft:

  • Paper: Use printer paper so you can print the template I provide.
  • A printer: See above.
  • Scissors: To cut out the template.
  • Glue: I highly recommend a plain old glue stick to keep this as mess free as possible. But regular school glue will work as well. HOWEVER, if you intend to change the materials and use stiffened felt or wood you will need to use the appropriate glue.
  • Coloring materials: If you decide to print just the outline and not the color pages, you could color everything in with crayons, colored pencils, or markers. Whatever your little heart desires!

How to Make the Valentine’s Day Bee Craft

These Valentines are so easy to make! To do it:

Homemade Valentine’s Day Crafts for the Classroom

My 7 year old daughter (1st grade) wants to make these to pass out to her friends. While we are homeschooling again this year, we will be making this easy craft and delivering them as part of her Valentine’s Day goodies to her buddies.

If she were in a school building, we would absolutely make these for her classmates for a Valentine’s party.

Valentine’s Craft for Elementary Students

Between homeschooling for the last 18 months and teaching in an afterschool arts program and teaching art in a summer camp before I had kids, I have had tons of experience teaching art to kids.

I would do this with early elementary school ages from kindergarten through 2nd or perhaps 3rd grade. Though for second and third grade, I’d add to it.

With a little help, you could even do it with older preschool and pre K kids.

Tips and Tricks

  • If you are printing them out to color in, you don’t have to stick to the traditional bee black and yellow. Have fun with it!
  • I like using markers for bold colors, but my daughter loves crayons for everything if you are going to color this in.
  • You could glue the finished bumblebee onto construction paper to make it a little bit more durable.
  • It would also work to use this as a template to cut the entire project out of card stock, construction paper, felt, thin pieces of wood, or even sheets of craft foam.
