Fall lovers rejoice! In just a few short days people can’t tell us we are jumping the gun on all things pumpkin and fall because it will officially be fall and I am free to wax poetic about everything I love about the season.
And there’s so much to love about it. Like for example all the pumpkin spice things.
I can’t think of anything I’d rather do on a chilly rainy fall day where the vivid leaves stand in stark contrast to the gray day than be cuddled up under a fluffy blanket, drinking this cozy spiked pumpkin spice latte.
I seriously just rolled my eyes at myself. Because despite the fact that I am 110 percent serious, even I know how annoying I sound. But I’m ok with that because this boozy pumpkin spice coffee is my basic girl drink of choice on occasions where the white apple sangria just doesn’t cut it.
What’s in a spiked pumpkin spice latte?
You have so many options, but hold on I’m getting to that.
First let’s talk about the components of this drink. You’ve got:
- coffee (well, obviously)
- steamed milk or cream
- sweetener of your choice
- Pumpkin Spice Irish Creme
Yes, let’s talk about the Pumpkin Spice Irish Creme for a second shall we? I had NO IDEA this was a thing until one of my bloggy buddies Kim at Berly’s Kitchen sent me a photo of it after she found some back in August. I knew I had to get my hands on some, because oh the possibilities. And the deliciousness.
I started creepily stalking my local liquor store until this hit the shelves. For me it wasn’t available until the week after Labor Day and they told us it would be displayed until around Thanksgiving so you should be able to find it now.
How do I make steamed milk at home?
It’s so easy! No need to get a fancy machine or anything. All you do is put some whole milk or half and half into a microwave safe bowl. Nuke it for about a minute. Then pour it into a jar and put the lid on, then shake it until its nice and frothy. It took about a minute of shaking until the milk got foamy. I used a cup of milk and it expanded to about a cup and a half. I didn’t use all of it either. Just to taste, which for me was a scant quarter of a cup in each drink. Oh! And if you want extra foam!! I love this Jordan’s Skinny Pumpkin Caramel Foam. So GOOD! I found mine at Homegoods but you can pick some up here.
I can’t find Pumpkin Spice Irish Creme. What do I do to make a spiked pumpkin spice latte?
Cry and pitch a fit, obviously.
No just kidding. There are a lot of ways to get your spiked pumpkin spice coffee on.
In fact you can add layers and layers of pumpkin spice by using pumpkin spice flavored coffee to start with like I did because you know I need my pumpkin spice coffee this time of year. You can also use a pumpkin spice creamer or add a teaspoon of pumpkin spice to your milk, half and half, or cream before you steam it. Then just add in plain Irish Creme liquor instead.
