Supplies for Salt Dough Ornaments

Flour Salt Water Baking Sheet Parcchment paper Rolling Pin Cookie cutters A metal straw Craft Paint Twine or string

Make the Salt Dough.

Combine the salt, flour, and water in a large bowl. Mix it together until it has the consistency of Play Doh. Add more water or flour if needed.

Roll out the dough.

Put the salt dough on a sheet of parchment paper, pressing it down to flatten it. Roll it out to about 1/4" thick.

Press your child's hand into the salt dough.

Have them spread out their fingers and gently press their hand into the dough. Repeat this to fill the dough surface or press cookie cutters into the dough to make different shapes.

Cut the handprint out.

Carefully cut the handprint out of dough using a knife. Leave a border or salt dough around the imprint of the hand.

Poke a hole in the salt dough ornament.

Take a metal straw and press one end of it into the ornament to cut a hole for ribbon or twine into the salt dough.

Bake the salt dough ornaments.

Repeat the process until all your ornaments are cut and have holes poked into them. Then bake them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper until the salt dough is dry and somewhat hard.

Decorate the salt dough ornaments.

Paint them to look like Santa, glitter,  or just seal them with Modge Podge.

Decorate and enjoy!
