What I’m Wednesday 10
Welcome to the place where I share what I’m up to each week and a bit of my real life outside of the blog.
Reading
I finished Well Met by Jen Deluca. Loved it. While I said it was PG 13 last week there was definitely one chapter that I read later the night I wrote my post that was a bit more than that. Still it was the most fun reading I did all summer. Simon, the love interest, is absolutely adorable. It was a light summer romp and I can’t wait to read her next novel.
After Well Met, I read How to Walk Away by Katherine Center. It was a good read, but I’ll be honest. It hit a bit close to home for me. Not in the paralysis or anything, but about 3/4 of the book was set in a hospital and the main character has a lengthy stay, during which she grieves for her past self. It’s not a huge stretch to see how I overly identified with her given my own long stay in the hospital when I was pregnant, after losing my son. I spent a lot of time grieving not just for him, but for me too. For the person I was that I had lost and can never be again. On that level, it was hard to read for me.
Next up? Finally going to dig into The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. I hear that one is a bit heavy too, so after I’m done with that I want a lighter read. Any suggestions? Something fun?
Watching
Still finishing the last season of Jane the Virgin. I’m totally into it and I am still rooting for Jane and Raphael.
On my list: Falling Inn Love on Netflix. It looks right up my cheesy little alley. Has anyone watched it?
Craving
I want this Butternut and Pumpkin curry in the worst way. Now that it’s September bring on all the fall foods. I am not even remotely ashamed.
I’m also looking forward to a fresh juicy apple I pick at the orchard.
And hot pumpkin spice chai on a crisp fall morning. Heaven. It absolutely can’t be a cold pscl though. GROSS. Read more on that here.
Oh, and donuts. These apple cider ones in particular.
Decorating
We impromptu threw out the bottom of our old entertainment hutch. We’ve been talking about doing it forever since the doors didn’t close properly anymore. Like literally have been discussing this since last year and did it yesterday when we pulled out our fall stuff. Then we slid the fireplace out of the corner and moved it into the center of the long wall in our living room. And we put a hutch around it to give it a hearth like feel. I’m going to diy a backsplash onto the back of the hutch thing and possibly paint it, but I love it. Our living room feels so much bigger and it is super cozy for fall.
I’m sitting in my house with the air conditioner running because my what an unseasonably hot fall day we are having and my tree lights on, fireplace on but not throwing heat, burning an Autumn leaves candle.
So happy.
Looking forward to
Going to a sunflower maze! It’s on my must do this year and I’m going to make it happen. We do corn mazes every year but seriously getting lost in a field of sunflowers sounds incredible. I’ll take lots of pictures.
Trying to
Recommit to a routine. The long weekend was hard on my sense of routine. I took a couple days off of yoga and need to start again. Plus I feel like I’m running around like a crazy lady with my daughter’s back to school schedule. She goes three days a week this year and those school days are tons of driving and back and forth. I’m tired just thinking of it.
I guess I need another psl.
What are you up to this week?
