What I’m Wednesday 49

Welcome to the place where I share what I’m up to each week and a bit of my real life outside of the blog.

Doing

Um? Another puzzle? I’m gonna have a real problem when we finish the other puzzles we have because apparently I have very strong opinions on the puzzles I like- Thomas Kinkade Disney puzzles obviously. (WHO AM I EVEN? If you had told me in 2019 that 2020 me would have strong opinions on puzzles I would have laughed in your face. Also, I would have laughed even harder if you told 2019 me that Nate and I would argue about puzzles. Seriously. He rushes through flipping over all the pieces when we start a puzzle and it drives me crazy. I move slower and like to look at the pieces as I turn them over. And yes, we argued once over this. It is hands down the most ridiculous argument we’ve ever had.)

Also still tons of outside time playing in the yard. I’ve been making flower crowns for my daughter out of clovers when we play. I used to do that when I was a kid and it’s fun to do it for her.

Reading

I’m reading 2 books at the moment and I’m not super far into either one so I can’t give too many thoughts beyond first impressions.

First up, I’m reading The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams. I’m only 3 chapters in, and haven’t gotten to the part of the book where the main characters reconcile and fall back in love. (At least, I’m guessing that’s what’s going to happen.) So far, the book has detailed the problems in pro baseball player Gavin’s marriage to former free spirited artist Thea. It’s amusing but the part of the plot that sets up the background is never my favorite.

Next, I’m reading The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon. Again I’m about 4 chapters in so the premise for the story has just been set up. Basically 3 women have caught the man they’ve all been dating catfishing them and cheating on them with each other when one woman live tweets her terrible date. The main character, Samiah, storms into the restaurant and tells off the man. The other girl he’s been dating shows up too and joins Samiah and the current girl he’s on a date with in telling the guy off. Other people in the restaurant film the confrontation and post it online, where it goes viral. The women become fast friends.

Also this week, I’ve read two more books in the Rourke series by Kylie Gilmore. These books are serious book candy, all following different members of the royal family on a tiny island kingdom as they fall for commoners. They are all a cross between a fairytale and a Hallmark movie but with a thousand percent more sex. I’m addicted to these books and not for the between the sheets scenes. (I pretty much skip them because they are all so cheesy.) But I buy into the trope of a handsome prince sweeping some unlikely woman off her feet and falling hard for her. It’s not high brow or intellectual in anyway at all, but it’s a fun escape from the dismal state of the world at the moment.

Watching

In the really ridiculous things I’m still watching… The Floor is Lava on Netflix. It is hands down the best worst thing I’ve ever watched. Everyone of us enjoys it- so hey winning I guess. Also, please read this review of it in GQ. It’s spot on.

Also watching the last season of Alexa and Katie. It’s super cheesy and I love it.

And, I’m recording the Hallmark Christmas movies off of their Christmas in July marathon. My daughter promised to watch some of them with me and so far she’s made good on that promise. We set up a nest on the couch and snuggle with her stuffed animals while we watch them together and I’m pretty sure this is what my heaven would be like.

Eating

We’ve done this mandarin chicken salad a few times. It’s so good and makes us all happy! Nate and I eat the salad as is and the kids love the chicken, oranges and chow mein noodles in it so they do a deconstructed version.

Drinking

Working on a summer drink sort of similar to these Boozy Lemonade Slushies. Will be sharing soon!

Looking for

Things to entertain the kids. Projects. Specifically I’m hunting for a diy bird feeder or bird house to make with my daughter since she’s in this phase where she wants a pet bird. (Hard no. She’d totally release the bird and it would fly all over the house. Absolutely not.)

Also thinking about buying a tie dye kit to do with her.

That’s it for me this week! What are you up to? How are you all holding up? Leave me a comment and let me know!
