What I’m Wednesday 70 and a Big Announcement
If you follow this little blog and my social media page, you’ll notice I’ve been kind of quiet the past month or so.
Why?
Because we are adding a new addition to our family this August! We told our families the news on Easter with this little bunny sign I made.
I’m about halfway through this pregnancy and aside from a rough first trimester and not being able to survive my days without a nap, I’m feeling good.
We are expecting currently cautiously optimistic about welcoming our new son this summer.
If you’ve followed this blog for a little while or my social media accounts, you know that when we were expecting twins in 2018, we found out our son died at 32 weeks. Our surviving son was born a few days later, had a very uncertain prognosis and spent a month in the NICU.
We hope not to go through another stillbirth, stressful prognosis, or NICU stay this time around.
I was watched like a hawk with my twins and still had a less than ideal outcome. Needless to say, I’m being followed very closely this time around too. our experience with the twins, as well as multiple miscarriages, has taught us that nothing is guaranteed.
So rather than dwelling on the lack of guarantee that we will in fact be walking out of the hospital with a baby this time around, I am trying to live in the moment and just savor every minute of it.
My pregnancies are never easy, to say the least, but this time around, rather than letting it get to me the way I did with the twins, I’m embracing the ride. Insomnia, heartburn, nausea, fatigue, food aversions…. all just reminders of how hard my body is working to bring this baby into the world.
And instead of resenting the fact that I don’t sail through my pregnancies trouble free and getting angry that I will never be the woman running a marathon while pregnant, I’m just really grateful that I get the chance to try again. I’m offering myself the grace and care I try to give to those I love- taking care of myself as best as I can. Some days that means a 3 hour long nap and then binge watching Schitt’s Creek or the Golden Girls later that night, other days it means a walk or yoga or just being outside in the sunshine while my kids play with bubbles.
So what now?
I’m getting back to releasing content regularly. I have a ton of easy recipes coming up and some craft projects and printables and homeschool stuff in the works. We’re also working ahead to cover being out of the office later this year if all goes well.
And next week, I’ll be back to my regular What I’m Wednesday content.
