What I’m Wednesday 8

Welcome to the place where I share what I’m up to each week.

Listening To

Taylor Swift’s song “Lover” on repeat. I am obsessed. We listen to a lot of Taylor Swift since my 4 year old loves her but I have this song playing even when I’m not with her. It’s my current favorite song and I’m a little ashamed of myself. Only a little, because tbh I think it’s a really amazing song. I don’t care if this just reaffirms my basic status. #sorrynotsorry

Reading

I abandonedย The Proposal. I just couldn’t get into it. There are very few books I don’t read all the way through, but sadly this was one. I just startedย Well Metย by Jen DeLuca. I’m only a chapter in but I really like it so far. I mean the first line is, “I didn’t choose the wench life. The wench life chose me.” Dead.

Watching

Still working my way through the last season of Jane the Virgin. I just watched the episode where Jane goes to Montana with Michael. Spoiler alert: I’m so glad that she’s finally done with him. I was sick of him. And I felt like they ended things in a good way too, by her realizing that she didn’t love him now. It makes the potential with Rafael so much better.

Also we caught some of Spider-Man Homecoming last night on tv. It’s my daughter’s favorite superhero movie other than Captain Marvel. Nate and I like it a lot too- you can read his thoughts on it here. In fact, Spidey is my second favorite MCU hero behind Iron Man and I am seriously scared of the possibility that Sony and Disney won’t work out their issues, and Spidey will be out of the MCU. Not ok with that.

Eating

I’ve been telling you guys about this fresh tomato pasta with burrata for the last several weeks because it is so darn good. The recipe is finally up, and let me tell you it’s my favorite end of summer thing ever. I can’t think of anything better than a big hunk of burrata and some sweet fresh tomatoes over pasta. MMMMMM.

Also, I’m back on cauliflower kick. I’ve been into this easy baked buffalo cauliflower the last several days for lunch. I’m also experimenting with cauliflower tacos. I’ll report back when I work that project out.

Doing

Soaking in the last of summer. While I’m seriously done with being hot and sweaty, I’m trying to squeeze more fun out of what’s left of the summer. We’ve been going to the pool and to outdoor movie nights and trying to get on walks when it doesn’t feel like a sauna outside. I’m at the point where I can say I’m feeling we’ve summered as best as we can and I’m ready for the crisp nights and bright fall days just ahead. Oh and I am for sure ready for the return of all things pumpkin spice. I have a very fun project in store when pumpkin spice season is fully upon us.

Still Committed To

My 30 days of yoga! I’m on day 22 and going strong. I missed a couple days due to being sick and just needing to sleep but I got right back to it as soon as I felt better. I have to tell you, I think I might make this a regular thing I do and continue it past the 30 day experiment. I am so much more peaceful. Which given the last year of my life is huge. It feels good to pour a little into my cup every day. It rejuvenates me and grounds me and lets me release some of the tension and grief I carry around with me. And with an outlet for that I find I have more energy and more patience with my kids but also with myself. It’s been learning to find ways to give myself grace and love.

That’s it for the week! What are you up to this week? Leave me a comment and let me know!
