Back in the days before kid, I used to bake from scratch all the time.
These days, puhlease. Bring on the baking hacks. I just don’t have the time or energy to make full on desserts from scratch all the time any more.

Ingredients and Kitchen Supplies
Here’s what you need to make cookie dough cookies stuffed with goodness:
- Store bought cookie dough: We used chocolate chip cookie dough for these, but you can use just about any store bought or premade cookie dough you like. Or you could make this chocolate cookie dough recipe first and stuff them.
- Nutella – One of the best stuffings to pair with chocolate chip cookie dough or with sugar cookie dough if you like.
- Square caramel chews – You want to make sure they are the chewy kind of caramel or you might break a tooth. Kidding! Seriously though, they might be really hard and difficult to chew.
- Sea salt – If you want to make salted caramel, you will want either sea salt or a coarse salt.
- Mini marshmallows – To make s’more stuffed cookie dough cookies, you will want to use mini marshmallows or chop up larger ones.
- Chocolate squares – You can use chocolate squares, like Hershey’s, or your favorite brand. You could also get away with using chocolate chips.
To make any of these store bought cookie dough hacks, you’ll want to have a cookie sheet to bake them on.
How to Make Cookie Dough Cookie Hacks: 3 Ways
Here’s a break down of how to make store bough cookie dough hacks.
For all versions of the cookie dough hacks, follow these steps and then skip to the version you want to make:
1. Before starting, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Slice or scoop the cookie dough and roll into about 18 large, roughly golf ball sized balls.
3. Choose your stuffing and follow along below.
Salted Caramel Stuffed Cookie Dough Cookie
1. Make a hole for the stuffing.
Holding a ball in your hand, make a small opening in the cookie dough.
Do not push all the way through.
2. Stuff the caramel and salt into the opening.
Once you have an opening, sprinkle a bit of salt into the hole and then push a caramel into the opening.
You can skip the salt if you are watching your sodium or just want regular caramel.
Mold the cookie dough around the caramel so that no opening or cracks occur.
Place on the stuffed cookie dough on a cookie sheet and repeat the same process until all dough balls are stuffed.
3. Bake the cookies.
Bake the caramel stuffed cookie dough for about 10 to 12 minutes or until they turn a golden brown.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool before serving. Enjoy!
S’More Stuffed Cookie Dough Cookie
1. Make a hole for the marshmallows and chocolate.
Holding a ball in your hand, make a small opening in the cookie dough to accomodate a piece of chocolate and marshmallow.
Do not push all the way through.
2. Stuff the marshmallows and chocolate into the opening.
Once you have an opening, place 1 or 2 marshmallows and a piece of chocolate into the opening.
Mold the cookie dough around the marshmallows and chocolate.
Place on the stuffed cookie on a cookie sheet and repeat the same process until all dough balls are stuffed.
3. Bake the cookies.
Bake the s’more stuffed cookie dough for about 10 to 12 minutes or until they turn a golden brown.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool before serving. Enjoy!
Nutella Stuffed Cookie Dough Cookie
1. Make a hole for the Nutella.
Holding a ball in your hand, make a small opening in the cookie dough that is large enough to fit about a spoonful of Nutella. (This is not an exact science here, just don’t make the hole so big you can’t close it.)
Do not push all the way through and make sure you have enough dough to close the hole back up..
2. Stuff a spoonful of Nutella into the opening.
Once you have an opening, spoon some Nutella into it, making sure you can close the cookie dough back around it.
Mold the cookie dough around the Nutella.
Place on the stuffed cookie on a cookie sheet and repeat the same process until all dough balls are stuffed.
3. Bake the cookies
Bake the Nutella stuffed cookie dough for about 10 to 12 minutes or until they turn a golden brown.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool before serving. Enjoy!
Tips and Tricks
- If you are making the Nutella stuffed cookies, you might find it works best to chill them for about an half hour. This helps keep the Nutella in the middle where you want it.
- You can make as many cookie dough balls as you like. Do not make them much bigger than about a golf ball so they bake evenly and before they start to burn.
- Make sure no matter how many cookies you make, you have enough dough to fully close the stuffing inside before baking.
Serving and Storing
Stuffed cookie dough cookies store really well.
Once they cool completely, place them into an air tight container.
They should stay fresh for about 5 to 7 days.
Serve these cookies on their own, top with your favorite ice cream, or have one as a snack when no one is looking.

- 3 Cookie Sheets
Ingredients
- 1 roll of store bought chocolate chip cookie dough or one batch of your favorite chocolate chip cookie dough
For the Nutella stuffed cookies
- six heaping 1/2 tablespoons of Nutella
For the Salted Caramel stuffed cookies
- 6 unwrapped square caramel chews
- sea salt
For the S’mores stuffed cookies
- 12 mini marshmallows
- 6 chocolate squares
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 and prepare 3 large cookie sheets by putting parchment paper on them.
- Make 18 large golf ball sized dough balls and press holes into the centers.
- For the Nutella stuffed cookies, press the back of a half teaspoon measuring spoon into each cookie to create a well. Top each well with a heaping half tablespoon of Nutella.
- For the salted caramel stuffed cookies, press an unwrapped caramel square into the center of each cookie. Sprinkle each caramel with sea salt.
- For the smore's cookies, press the chocolate square into the center of each cookie. Top the chocolate square with 2 mini marshmallows.
- Seal each ball so no seems or cracks exist.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges of cookies are golden and center is lightly set.
- Let cool before removing from parchment paper.
- Enjoy!
