I’m not a fan of the kind of cocktails that put hair on your chest.

The ones that sort of burn going down and you make the face and say, “Ahhhh!” right after you drink them.

Yep, those are not my jam.

The breeze blows me more in the direction of light, sweet, refreshing cocktails that sort of taste like grown up Juicy Juice.

The kinds that make you forget that you are actually drinking a cocktail if you aren’t careful.

And a million bonus points to it if is super pretty too.

These blueberry vodka lemonade cocktails are all of the above.

Refreshing, tart, sweet, and don’t taste like alcohol at all.

Perfect for summer nights sipping on the patio.

To make this you’ll need:

  • Blueberry Lemonade– Our homemade blueberry lemonade combines blueberry simple syrup and light lemonade. You could use store bought blueberry lemonade if you must but the blueberry flavor won’t be as good.
  • Vodka– You have options here. You can use blueberry vodka, plain vodka, or a citrus vodka.
  • Limoncello– For an extra shot of lemon flavor.
  • Optional garnishes– Mint leaves, blueberries, and lemon wedges

Tips for Before You Start

  • Make the blueberry simple syrup ahead of time so you have time to chill it. To make the simple syrup, simmer equal parts sugar and water together on the stove over medium low heat until the sugar dissolves. Add the an equal amount of blueberries. Let them simmer until the burst then strain the liquid and refrigerate it.
  • Decide if you serving a pitcher of cocktails or if you are serving some non alcoholic blueberry lemonade along with the blueberry vodka cocktails. If you plan to serve a full pitcher of the cocktail, you can add the liquor directly to the pitcher in a larger amount. If you are making individual cocktails, you’ll add a smaller amount of liquor to each individual glass.

How to Make Blueberry Vodka Lemonade Cocktails

1. Make the blueberry lemonade.

Add the blueberry simple syrup to the lemonade

Stir blueberry simple syrup into lemonade until combined.

2. Add the alcohol for a large batch.

If you are making large batch blueberry vodka lemonade cocktails, add 8 ounces of vodka and 8 ounces of limoncello to the blueberry lemonade. Stir. Pour into glasses with ice.

OR…

3. If you are making individual cocktails.

Add the limoncello and vodka to a glass with ice.
Add the limoncello and vodka to a glass with ice.

If you are making individual servings only, add 1 ounce of vodka and 1 ounce of limoncello to a glass with ice.

Pour the blueberry lemonade into the glass with ice and alcohol.
Pour the blueberry lemonade into the glass with ice and alcohol.

Then fill the remainder of the glass with blueberry lemonade and stir.

4. Garnish and serve.

Garnish each cocktail with fresh blueberries, lemon wedges, and mint leaves if desired. Enjoy!

Storing Leftovers

If you are making a big batch of blueberry vodka lemonade cocktails, you can store any leftovers in the pitcher in the fridge for a few days.

Yes! It’s so summery and perfect for sipping in the heat.

Does blueberry vodka taste good?

When paired with blueberry lemonade it is very nice. On it’s own, I find it very strong but sweet. It’s definitely less intense than unflavored vodka!

  • You can absolutely make a pitcher of the blueberry vodka lemonade ahead of time before a party etc. Just keep it refrigerated until you plan to serve it.
  • Changing the vodka flavor will change the flavor of the drink but this does work with blueberry vodka, plain vodka, citrus vodka, or even raspberry vodka all with slight variations in flavor.
  • Just be aware that this drink is one of those cocktails that does not taste like alcohol at all! It’s very sweet and has the tendency to sort of sneak up on you so be careful ๐Ÿ™‚
  • You could also make it a double berry vodka lemonade cocktail and use half raspberry simple syrup and half blueberry simple syrup in place of all the blueberry simple syrup and then use half blueberry vodka and half raspberry vodka.

Ingredients

Blueberry Lemonade

  • 52 ounces lemonade light
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar granulated
  • 1 cup blueberries

  • 8 ounces vodka
  • 8 ounces limoncello
  • 60 ounces blueberry lemonade

Instructions

Making the Blueberry Lemonade

  • Make the blueberry simple syrup by whisking the water and sugar together in a small pot over medium low heat until the sugar dissolves.
    1 cup water, 1 cup sugar
  • Add the blueberries to the sugar water mixture, and bring them to a simmer. Let the blueberries simmer until they burst. As soon as they burst, remove the pan from the heat and strain the mixture over a jar, discarding the berry pieces.
    1 cup blueberries
  • Pour 1 cup of the blueberry simple syrup into a full 52 ounces of light lemonade and stir it together.

Making Individual Cocktails: Option 1

  • Pour one ounce of limoncello and 1 ounce of vodka into individual glasses filled with ice and then pour blueberry lemonade over top to fill each glass.

Making Big Batch Blueberry Vodka Lemonade Cocktails

  • Pour 8 ounces (1 cup) of limoncello and 8 ounces (1 cup) of vodka into the pitcher of blueberry lemonade, stir, and then pour into individual glasses filled with ice.

To Garnish (Optional)

  • You can dress up your drinks by adding a few mint leaves to the glasses, putting a lemon wedge on each glass, and adding some fresh blueberries to each glass.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the alcohol content to your liking. The more you add, the stronger the drink will be.
A “shot” is often about 3 tablespoons, though this can vary due to there being no real standard measurement.
