I love me a good food craft.

Especially fun holiday ones.

But something about my current phase of parenthood and life in general has me feeling like I don’t have time to do more elaborate food crafts like turning Rice Krispie treats into mummies or monsters right now.

That fall hustle has hit hard.

Come to think of it, last year, I was also feeling the fall hustle and made 3 Ingredient Halloween S’mores with the kids instead of decorating things.

If you feel that too and still want to make fun treats but really don’t have the time and energy to do involved projects, may I present to you the easiest ever Halloween Rice Krispie treats?

These bad boys are no bake and no extra work.

All you have to do is stir in a couple extra ingredients and you are good to go.

Then have your kids press on some candy eyes and you’ve got spooktacular treats ready for Halloween.

You need some standard ingredients to make Halloween Rice Krispie treats and a few additional ones to make them festive:

  • Rice Cereal – Just because they are called Rice Krispies doesn’t mean you can’t use your local store’s brand Crisp Rice Cereal if you want or need to. You can also use different flavors if you like, such as Cocoa Krispies.
  • Marshmallows – You can use large or small marshmallows. You need 40 large or 5.5 cups of the minis.
  • Butter – You could also use margarine if you like, but butter is the traditional fat used.
  • Spray – Non-stick spray is very helpful both for your mixing tools and the pan you spread the warm Rice Krispie treats into. You could also grease the pan with butter or shortening for easy release.
  • Halloween Sprinkles – You start seeing this in stores around September or even August. You don’t have to use a specific kind, really whatever one you like.
  • Halloween M&M’s – You could use other candies themed for Halloween if you like. M&M just releases black and orange only bags for the holiday. You can also skip these if you prefer.

Halloween Rice Krispie treats work well as a dessert, snack, or, if you’re my husband, breakfast… because they contain cereal, it “counts” apparently.

His logic is iffy at best though.

You can serve them alongside other Halloween treats, like monster bark, or as a follow up to mummy hot dogs.

Storing

Halloween Rice Krispie treats are very easy to store.

Just cut them into squares and place them in an air tight container or use cling wrap or a lid on the baking dish and leave them there until you are done.

They store well for about 5 to 7 days as long as they are sealed, no need to refridgerate.

In fact, we don’t recommend storing them in the fridge because they will get rock hard. until they warm up to room temperature.

  • Add in other candies as you like. This is an excellent recipe to use with leftover trick or treat candies. Just chop up larger pieces of candy.
  • You can cut hardened Halloween Rice Krispie treats into fun shapes using cookie cutters if squares aren’t your thing.
  • Don’t refridgerate Rice Krispie treats unless you plan on losing a tooth or loosening a wiggly tooth in your child.
