White Chocolate Candy Cane Martini (Chocolate Peppermint Martinis)
A white chocolate candy cane martini is the perfect festive Christmas cocktail. Mix up these chocolate peppermint martinis for your Christmas celebration or any other festive occasion. Guaranteed to make you feel like Buddy the Elf- in a good way!
Tis the season for all the fun cocktails!
While it’s not quite as much fun as frozen cocktail season (hello boozy lemonade slushies!), Christmas cocktails like these white chocolate candy cane martinis are just so festive.
They make me think of sparkles and pretty dresses and jazzy Christmas music.
I don’t know. Something about a martini makes me want to go to an old fashioned cocktail party in New York City somewhere swanky.
Preferably with big Christmas trees. Perhaps a Christmas party in the Plaza?
With homemade candy cane vodka for a huge shot of Christmas flavor and a hint of white chocolate liqueur and a splash of cream, these candy cane cocktails are the stuff Christmas cocktail dreams are made of.
And these chocolate peppermint martinis definitely should be added to one of the food groups Buddy the Elf talks about “Candy canes, candy corns, cookies, syrups…”
Ingredients and Kitchen Supplies
Making these candy cane martinis is very easy. You only need a few ingredients:
- Candy cane vodka– Peppermint vodka or plain vodka with 1/4 tsp peppermint extract and a couple drops of red food coloring)
- White chocolate liqueur– Like Jacquin’s Creme de Cacao White or Schmerling’s White Chocolate Liqueur
- Cream– Light cream or half and half. You could also use peppermint coffee creamer.
- Sugar– Granulated sugar and red sanding sugar.
You’ll want these kitchen supplies:
How to Make White Chocolate Candy Cane Martinis
1. Rim the martini glass.
Dip the edges of the martini glass into a shallow bowl of water.
Then dip the glass into a mix of granulated sugar and sanding sugar.
Set the glasses aside.
2. Measure and mix the ingredients.
To make the pepperminit martinis, add 1 1/2 ounces of candy cane vodka, 1 1/2 ounces of white chocolate liquer and 1 ounce of cream to a shaker with ice.
Give it a good shake.
3. Garnish and serve.
Pour the candy cane martini into the rimmed glass and garnish it with a mini candy cane. Cheers!
How do I rim the glasses and get candy canes to stick to the martini glasses?
The key is moistening the rim of the glass before you try to get anything to stick! My pictures show sanding sugar and not crushed candy canes but you can absolutely get crushed candy canes to stick to a martini glass by using wetting the rim of the glass first. Plus candy canes themselves are a little sticky so they kind of glue themselves to the glass when it’s wet.
Can I use peppermint schnapps instead of peppermint vodka?
Yes, though keep in mind peppermint schapps is stronger than peppermint vodka.
Tips and Tricks
- Really want to play up the candy cane flavor? Skip rimming the glasses with sugar and rim them with crushed peppermint or crushed candy cane instead following the same process I described above.
- You don’t have to use white chocolate liqueur and could use regular chocolate liqueur instead. However the color will be decidedly less candy cane pink.
- This recipe is very easy to double or triple for parties.
