Grilled Buffalo Wings

Grilled buffalo wings take buffalo wings to the next level, adding a smokey flavor and crispy outside.

Ingredients

For the Buffalo Sauce

  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 1 cup hot sauce
  • 4 - 6 cloves fresh garlic
  • 1 pinch of salt and black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional for added heat

For the rub

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 pounds of fresh or frozen wings

Instructions

For Sauce

  • Add butter to small sauce pan and melt over medium heat
  • Add crushed garlic and simmer for 1-2 minutes
  • Reduce heat to low-medium and add hot sauce and additional seasonings
  • Stir occasionally to combine, reduce heat to low

For Rub

  • Combine all spices, melted butter, and hot sauce together in small bowl

For Wings

  • If wings are whole, separate them using a knife or poultry sheers (toss the tips out unless you want to use themfor some unholy reason)
  • Put all wing parts in large bowl
  • Pour rub mixture over them and mix until coated
  • Let sit for a half hour to let wings absorb flavor. You can skip this if you just want to get grilling right away and you are really hungry. But let them sit helps incorporate the flavor well.
  • If using a charcoal grill, make a low heat fire or if using a gas grill put on low-medium heat setting
  • To avoid burning the wings, flip each wing several times during cooking (once every 3 minutes, give or take)
  • Cook time will vary slightly but should be about 10 to 15 minutes, but you are safest to use a meat thermometer to check internal temps on the wings to be sure they reach 165 degrees F.
  • When done, remove from grill and put in large, clean bowl
  • Pour buffalo sauce over them and toss with tongs or a large spoon
  • Serve with favorite dressing like blue cheese or ranch
