Equipment

  • 1 Air Fryer (if using an air fryer, obviously)

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Italian, French, or ciabatta bread (about 12 ounces)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1.5 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 3 tablespoons parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  • Cut your bread into roughly 1x1 inch cubes and place into a large mixing bowl.
  • Pour the olive oil over the top of the bread and then spread the salt and garlic powder over the bread cubes.
  • Use tongs or a spoon to gently toss the bread cubes to coat them.
  • Sprinkle on the parmesan cheese and toss again to combine.

For the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375 F.
  • Prepare a cookie sheet with either aluminum foil and non-stick spray or parchment paper.
  • Spread the bread cubes evenly over the prepared cookie sheet.
  • Place in the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until the croutons turn golden brown and appear toasted.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool before using or storing.

For the Air Fryer

  • Spread the bread cubes in the basket of the air fryer, leaving space between each cube.
  • Set the air fryer to 400 F.
  • Cook the croutons for 6 to 10 minutes or until they turn golden brown and toasted, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking process.
  • Remove from the air fryer and allow to cool before storing or serving with your favorite salad or soup.

Notes

  • You can make these salt free or use less salt if you like, just cut as much as you like or need.
