Instructions
Clean and remove the stems from the strawberries.
Make the simple strawberry simple syrup by combining the water and sugar in a small pot.
Heat over medium low heat, stirring continuously, until the sugar dissolves after about 2 minutes.
Add in the cup of quarted strawberries and continue to heat over medium low heat, stirring frequently, until the strawberries start to break down and release their juices. This should take about 10 minutes.
Remove from heat and strain the strawberries out from the simple syrup.
Cut the remaining pint of strawberries into oblong or round slices and place in the bottom of a pitcher.
Pour in the white wine, rum, and strawberry simple syrup.
Place the lid on the sangria and put in the fridge to rest for at least 30 minutes.
To serve, pour the sangria into wine glasses with or without ice, leaving a small to 1/4 of the glass empty. Fill the remainder of the glasses with Sprite before serving.
