Sweet, sun ripened strawberries.

Ingredients and Kitchen Supplies
Strawberry simple syrup only needs three ingredients, including:
- Granulated Sugar – You’ll need plain white granulated sugar.
- Strawberries – If you can pick your own or go to a farmer’s market, we recommend doing that. Otherwise, grocery store ones will work well. They just tend to produce a lighter flavor compared to fresher berries.
- Water – You need filtered, spring, or tap water to make the simple syrup.
You don’t need much to make strawberry simple syrup. You probably already have these on hand:
- Small Pot
- Whisk
- Sharp Knife
- Strainer
- Mason or other jar
How to Make Strawberry Simple Syrup
1. Wash and quarter your straberries.
Thoroughly wash your strawberries.
Cut off the stems and then quarter the strawberries.
Set them aside as you make the simple syrup.
2. Make the simple syrup.
In a small sauce pan, combine the sugar and water.
Set over medium-low heat and continously whisk until the sugar completely dissovles.
This typically takes about 2 minutes.
3. Add the strawberries and finish the syrup.
Immediately after the sugar dissolves, add in the quartered strawberries.
Stir frequently for about 5 to 10 more minutes or until the strawberries start to break down and release their juices.
Remove the pot from heat and allow it to rest for a few minutes to cool down some.
Use a strainer to pour the strawberry simple syrup into a mason jar or other container.
Finally, use a spoon to gently squeeze out any trapped liquid.
You can either use the strawberry simple syrup right away or store it for later.
Serving
While you could drink the strawberry simple syrup directly, it would be far more delicious to add it to your favorite drink like an ice cold glass of lemonade or iced tea.
Instead, you can add it to your favorite drinks, like lemonade, strawberry lemonade slushies, or any drink that you want some extra sweetness and strawberry flavoring.
You can also add it as a substitute for regular simple syrup in any baking dish that calls for it or even drizzle it over pancakes or waffles.
Storing
To store strawberry simple syrup, allow it to cool and then place a lid on the mason jar or other container.
It should stay fresh in the fridge for about 1 to 2 weeks in a sealed container.
You can also freeze it for up to a year and maintain its freshness.
To use frozen strawberry simple syrup, allow it thaw for one to two days in the fridge.
Tips and Tricks
- Fresh strawberries direct from a farm or farmstand offer the best color and flavor compared to grocery store berries. You could also use frozen strawberries if you prefer.
- Do not turn the stove top up too high. This could accidently caramalize the sugar, which you do not want to happen.
- If doubling or tripling the recipe, make sure you maintain the one to one ratio between sugar, water, and strawberries.
- If you’ve made other fruit simple syrups like raspberry simple syrup or blueberry simple syrup, you may be worried that this one is taking too long because it takes a little longer for the meatier strawberries to break down and release their juices. Don’t worry- just cook it until it’s nice and red/pink.

Ingredients
- 1 cup strawberries hulled and cut
- 1 cup sugar granulated
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Cut the tops off the strawberries and discard them. Quarter the strawberries. Set them aside.
- Add the sugar and water to a small pot over low to medium low heat.
- Whisk the sugar and water constantly until the sugar dissolves.
- As soon as the sugar dissolves, add the strawberries into the pot.
- Cook the mixture, not adjusting the heat, until the mixtures comes to a boil and simmers for about 5 minutes or until the strawberries release enough of their juices to turn the liquid red/pink. Stir frequently.
- Let the mixture cool.
- When the mixture is cool enough to safely handle, set a mesh strainer over a bowl, jar, or measuring cup. Carefully pour the simple syrup over the strainer to catch the solids.
- Use a sturdy spoon to gently press down on the strawberry solids in the strain to release any trapped moisture. Discard the solids or save them to use as a chunkier preserve.
- Store in a sealed jar in the fridge and use in your favorite baked goods or drinks. Enjoy!
